Cookie Policy

How Cover My Order uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, and how you can control them.

Effective 16 Jul 2026 Last updated 16 Jul 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Cover My Order ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on covermyorder.com (the "Site"), and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

01

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the website function, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use it. "Similar technologies" includes local storage, pixels, and tracking scripts that serve comparable purposes.

02

How We Manage Cookie Consent

We manage cookie consent through a floating cookie preference widget, accessible at any time from the corner of the screen. On your first visit, non-essential cookies are not set until you provide consent. You can open the widget at any time to view, accept, reject, or update your preferences by category.

03

Categories of Cookies We Use

Always on

Strictly necessary

Site function, security, load balancing, and remembering your consent choice itself. Cannot be disabled.

Optional

Functional

Remember preferences — e.g. pricing display settings or last-viewed billing tab.

Optional

Analytics

Google Analytics 4 and PostHog — aggregate traffic and usage patterns, to help us improve the Site.

Optional

Marketing

Measures effectiveness of our own marketing. Never sold to third parties.

Functional, analytics, and marketing cookies all require your consent via the widget in Section 2. Strictly necessary cookies do not, under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

Both Google Analytics 4 and PostHog cookies are set only after you consent to the "Analytics" category in the cookie widget (Section 2). Neither tool is used by us to sell your data or build advertising profiles.

05

Third-Party Cookies

  • Freemius — sets cookies during checkout and account management when you purchase or manage a licence. Governed by Freemius's own cookie and privacy policies.
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) — sets cookies to measure Site traffic and usage, only after you consent via the cookie widget. Google's own privacy policy governs how it processes this data. Depending on your settings, this may involve transferring data to the United States.
  • PostHog — sets cookies for product analytics (e.g. understanding how visitors navigate the Site and use key pages), only after you consent via the cookie widget. Governed by PostHog's own privacy policy.
  • Email/newsletter provider — may use tracking pixels in marketing emails to registered subscribers, governed by that provider's own policies.

We do not control these third parties' cookies directly once set, and recommend reviewing their own cookie policies — policies.google.com/technologies/cookies for Google, and PostHog's documented cookie list — for full detail.

06

Cookies Set by the Cover My Order Plugin (On Your Store)

Separately from this website, the Cover My Order plugin, once installed on your own WooCommerce store, may set its own cookies on your storefront — for example, to manage the shipping protection checkout widget or a claims-portal session. This is standard WordPress/WooCommerce behavior on your own site, governed by your own store's cookie and privacy policy, not this one. See Part B of our Privacy Policy for more on this division of responsibility.

07

How to Control Cookies

  • Our floating widget — the fastest way to manage consent for this Site specifically. Accept, reject, or customise by category at any time.
  • Your browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies generally, or clear them on exit. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may affect Site functionality (e.g., your cookie consent choice itself may not be remembered).
  • Opting out of analytics — where applicable, some analytics providers offer their own browser opt-out tools independent of this Site's cookie widget.
08

Requesting the Current Cookie List

Because specific third-party cookies can change as we update our tools and integrations, contact us at support@covermyorder.com if you'd like the current, itemised list of cookies in active use beyond the categories described above.

09

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies and technologies we use, or for legal reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
